ktm-6428.jpg (72161 bytes) KTM (Malaysian Railways) YDM4 ALCO 6428 is seen at Jerantut with southbound mail train M/91 from Tumpat to Gemas. The 527 kilometre journey taking fourteen hours. This train is best taken northbound, when "fresh air" opening window stock is directly behind the ALCO. The YDM4 is on lease from IRCON (Indian Railways construction) and is one of twenty-five Locos currently in Malaysia. 8th February 2000.
ktm-6543.jpg (76039 bytes) KTM (Malaysian Railways) YDM4 ALCO 6543 is seen on northbound mail train M/58, the 09.25 from Singapura to Gua Musang. The 543 kilometre journey taking over twelve hours. The YDM4 is on lease from IRCON (Indian Railways construction) and is one of twenty-five Locos currently in Malaysia. 9th February 2000.
rsr-528.jpg (49632 bytes) RSR (Royal State Railways) of Thailand, "Davenport" Loco 528 is seen at Hat Yai Junction on 12th February 2000. Although this particular Loco is not in use it is understood that some members are further north.
rsr-4003.jpg (58784 bytes) RSR (Royal State Railways) of Thailand, General Electric (USA) built Loco 4003 is north of Hat Yai Junction on a local stopping train 456 from Yala to the east coast town of Na Khon Si Thammarat. A small Krupp B-B Hydraulic had worked to Hat Yai Junction, where the "Shovel Nose" took over for the run north on the main line towards to Bangkok. Fitted with twin Cummins engine, they make a quite loud interesting sound.
rsr4016b.jpg (79109 bytes) RSR (Royal State Railways) of Thailand, General Electric (USA) built Loco 4003 is north of Hat Yai Junction on a local stopping train 456 from Yala to the east coast town of Na Khon Si Thammarat. A small Krupp B-B Hydraulic had worked to Hat Yai Junction, where the "Shovel Nose" took over for the run north on the main line towards to Bangkok. Fitted with twin Cummins engine, they make a quite loud interesting sound.
rsr-4209.jpg (70886 bytes) RSR (Royal State Railways) of Thailand, Alsthom built Loco 4209 is at Hat Yai Junction in front of the station building, used on all types of traffic, some Local trains, expresses and freight duties. Fitted with a French designed Pielstick engine, the 2,400 horse power Locos are very loud.
rsr-4551.jpg (53383 bytes) RSR (Royal State Railways) of Thailand, General Electric (USA) built Loco 4551 is at Hat Yai Junction, about to take over a busy northbound express for the long run north to Bangkok. Fitted with twin Cummins engine, and large exhaust silences, these are not particularly inspiring Locos.
